Fellowship Program

ON Fellows are students and emerging professionals at various stages of experience. They are musicians who need to get a foot in the door and receive mentorship in a supportive, professional environment. The Fellowship Program is competitive and requires an audition. This year, Orchestra Next will be accepting roughly 35 orchestral musicians for the season.

What will Fellows be involved with over the season?

• Fellows will participate in Orchestra Next’s 26/27 Season which includes:
  • Taming of the Shrew (Farrenc) in October with Eugene Ballet
  • The Nutcracker (Tchaikovsky) in December with Eugene Ballet
  • A recording project in in March
  • Firebird in April with Eugene Ballet
• Fellows will also be ready to go for productions that come up for ON! 
• Fellows will be paid an honorarium for their work as they were in prior years ($80 per service)

Fellowship Audition Procedure and Requirements

• The audition is open to anyone who is looking for the opportunity to work in a training orchestra.  There are no age restrictions. For more information, please see ON’s DEIAB statement. 
• Please find the appropriate audition excerpts for your instrument below.
• Video record your audition and upload it to YouTube as unlisted (not public or private). Please compile all material into one video. Here is an example as to how you should label your video on YouTube: “Orchestra Next Audition: Trumpet“
• Include the link in the audition form.
• Auditions open (follow the link below) on July, 2026
• Deadline for submissions: 11:59 pm on Sept 25, 2026
• Chosen candidates will be notified about the results of their audition by early October
• Tuition for the ON program is $500, but all Fellows accepted into the program receive a full scholarship
